"The challenge of every team is to build a feeling of oneness, of dependence on one another because the question is usually not how well each person performs, but how well they work together."...“The achievements of an organization are the results of the combined effort of each individual.”...“People who work together will win, whether it be against complex football defenses, or the problems of modern society.”...“Individual commitment to a group effort – that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work.”
What great motivational quotes! These quotes are great for any business whether it be automotive repair shops, call centers, fast food restaurants, but would you believe the quotes came from an NFL Football coach?
Vince Lombardi...he has a long list of accomplishments starting as assistant coach in the NFL for the New York Giants. During his five years with the Giants, Lombardi helped lead the Giants to five winning seasons, culminating with the league championship in 1956, head coach for the Green Bay Packers from 1959 to 1967. Vince transformedGreen Bayinto winner in two seasons, acclaimed NFL Man of the Decade in the 1960s, gave Packers 89-29-4 record, five NFL titles, first two Super Bowl crowns in nine years, led 1969 Redskins to first winning record in 14 years, noted taskmaster, and never had a losing season.
Vince believed that running a football team is no different than running any other kind of organization - an army, a political party or a business. Vince stated, "some guys play with their heads. That's O.K. You've got to be smart to be number one in any business. But more importantly, you've got to play with your heart, with every fiber of your body. If you're lucky enough to find a guy with a lot of head and a lot of heart, he's never going to come off the field second."
Vince passed away in 1970 from cancer at the age of 57.
In his honor, the NFL renamed “The Super Bowl Trophy” to the “Vince Lombardi Super Bowl Trophy” in 1971.
Wow, Vince hit the nail on the head. I believe a big part of Micro Import Service's success is due to our team having heart, believing in themselves, having a leader who believes in them. If you have this, you open the door to great things.
