Howard’s tip of the day
Who’s Howard you ask? He is Micro’s #1 ASE Certified technician. And Howard is going on his 11th year with us! So why, ‘Howard’s tip of the day’? This man is amazing when it comes to the repair & maintenance of a vehicle…when Howard touches a car, he is performing what I like to refer to as, ‘Howard Magic’. 🙂
Want to know how to save money on gas?
There are a few things that everybody can do right away to help save some gas money…
During every change of the season, the mix of gasoline and ethanol at the pump changes. This always causes problems, especially with your fuel filter.
Howard says to check and replace your fuel filter (most vehicles 2000 & older have fuel filters permanently in the fuel tank) and air filter. More on fuel filter replacement tomorrow!
Service your Fuel and Induction systems. They work and get clogged like a spray paint can…a perfectly working system produces a fine spray and a clogged system dribbles or globs. To clean these systems have a fuel injection service.
When was the last time you had a tuneup? And if it’s been a long time since you’ve had your spark plugs replaced, make sure your technician evaluates their status, too.
Howard says it’s always best to read your owners’ manual for the recommended maintenance intervals. Most of the manuals will have ‘severe’ and ‘mild’ intervals to follow. To know which interval you fall under will depend on the climate you live in, and what type of driving you do. For instance, if you live in Arizona, you experience high temperatures and dust from desert living, so your fuel & air filter will tend to get dirtier then someone living in New York, thus putting you in the ‘severe’ category. A lot to think about, but very important for the life of your vehicle.
If you’re a customer of Micro, Mike & Travis keep you updated on your maintenance schedule and when your car is due for its next service. Feel free to call us at 520-795-8724 if you have any questions.
